Team Expert - Year End Statements

This month Leonie Mohr has provided a brief on “Year End Statements”, a timely topic for all. Leonie commenced working with Entello in March 2007 and has recently been appointed to the role of Key Account Officer.  She has extensive experience with Entello, which covers the Shares Division and accounting and she holds a Diploma of Financial Services.  In addition, she has over 30 years experience both in Australia and overseas working in areas with a strong customer service focus.

End of Financial Year Statements

With the start of the new financial year, it is appropriate to advise clients who have share portfolios in either individual names, trust structures or in a self managed superannuation fund, that it is necessary to provide information to your accountant for the 2009/10 financial year.  Information required includes your dividends including any imputation credits, any transactions that occurred on your trading platform and the value of your shares as of 30 June 2010.

We are currently in the process of sending out the End of Financial Year Statements by email.  These statements provide:

  • Trading History (whatever was purchased or sold)

  • Account Positions – (amount and value of shares held on 30 June 2010)

  • Cash Transaction History – only if you have a Cash CMA account eg a self managed super fund (this statement includes any interest and dividends you have requested to go into the account)

Dividend Reinvestment Plan

This is also an appropriate time to discuss Dividend Reinvestment Plan.  Entello does not advocate thay you should be reinvesting your dividends back into shares.  The reason for this is if you receive cash for your dividend this can be used to purchase an appropriate share at the time as it may not be an appropriate entry time for the share that is providing the dividend.  Another reason is the time taken by your accountant and the cost involved to work out the Capital Gains Tax implications if/when the share is sold at a later date.

If you would like any clarification for further information on the above please phone the office and we will be happy to discuss this with you.

Kind regards

Leonie Mohr
